Commitments general presentation

What commitments are and how they work

Updated today

Commitments are smart and flexible action items that transform the way you follow up on your 1-to-1 management rituals.

Commitments live right in your 1:1 meetings.

As you meet with your team member, capture any commitment (action item, decision to be made, etc) right in your 1:1 meeting on Popwork.
They're saved instantly and tracked automatically.

To add a commitment, in the New commitments section of your 1-to-1 meeting, click "+Add a commitment" and enter it.

Notes:

  • You have to choose an owner for the commitment (manager or team member)

  • You have the option to add a due date, a priority level, and labels of your choice

  • Commitments have three possible statuses (to do, doing, done)

A dedicated commitments view per team member workspace

Each team member's workspace has a Commitments tab where you can find all Commitments created between the manager and the team member.

Notes:

  • You can view commitments in List, Board or Labels view

  • You can filter commitments by Status and Labels

  • You can sort commitments by Priority level and Due Date

Commitments live within the 1:1 meetings cycle for easy and smart tracking

What is unique about commitments is that they are automatically tracked from one 1:1 meeting to another.

When team members prepare their 1:1 meeting, the Commitments review step enables them to update the status of their commitments.

Notes:

  • Team members update commitments by clicking on the status icon which cycles as follows:

    • To do - grey circle

    • Doing - blue dotted circle

    • Done - green checked circle

  • Updated and carried forward commitments are visible in the shared 1:1 meeting in the workspace

Managers can view all their team's commitments at any time

The Commitments section in the side menu gives manager a view on all their team's commitments (including their own).

The default view shows commitments per team member (list view), but other views, such as the Board view (Kanban board), offer other visualisations to help managers.

Managers benefit from a Commitments snapshot on their homepage

The Manager Home includes a Commitments widget to help managers always have an instant snapshot of current and recently done commitments.
