Connect your AI assistant to Popwork (MCP, beta)

Ask Claude about your team, your 1:1s and your commitments, straight from your AI assistant.

Popwork MCP connects an AI assistant, such as Claude, to your Popwork account. Instead of browsing the app, you ask a question in plain language and the assistant looks up the answer in Popwork for you.

Popwork MCP is currently in beta and read-only: the assistant can read your Popwork data, it cannot create, edit or delete anything.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to the tools you use. In Claude, these connections are called connectors.

What you can do with it

As a manager, about the teams you lead:

  • Prepare a 1:1: how mood and workload moved over the last check-ins, what the person wrote, their open commitments and the next scheduled 1:1, in a single answer.

  • Understand why someone is struggling: read back a person's check-ins and the comments under them, over up to 12 months, to see when things changed.

  • Find where a topic came up: search your team's check-in answers and comments for a word or a project (for example "workload" or "tired").

  • Follow your commitments: overdue, due within 14 days, later or without a due date, with who each one is assigned to.

  • Review objectives: status and key results of a team member, useful before an annual review.

  • Look ahead: your upcoming 1:1s and check-ins, and whether the form is already filled in.

As an admin, about the whole company (aggregated data only):

  • Mood and workload over time, by month, quarter or year.

  • Breakdowns by department, division, team, job title or tenure, and comparison of two periods.

  • Adoption: onboarded managers, live rituals and active members.

This is the same information as in the Dashboard (formerly People Insights).

How to connect your assistant

  1. Check that the beta is activated on your account. If you cannot see the steps below, ask us in the chat.

  2. In Popwork, click your avatar, then Integrations, then Connected assistants.

  3. Click Add to Claude. Claude opens with the Popwork MCP address already filled in.

  4. Confirm in Claude to add the connector, and sign in to Popwork if asked.

  5. Open a new conversation, check that Popwork is switched on in your connectors, and ask your first question.

Popwork does not appear in Claude's connector directory yet because it is in beta. This is expected: use the Add to Claude button.

Questions to try

  • "Prepare my 1:1 with Camille."

  • "Has anyone in my team mentioned workload in the last three months?"

  • "Which of my commitments are overdue?"

  • "How has Alex's mood changed since March, and what did they write around then?"

  • "What are Sam's objectives and where do they stand?"

  • (Admins) "Compare workload by department between the last two quarters."

If the assistant does not seem to use Popwork, mention Popwork in your question.

Privacy and good to know

  • Same visibility as in Popwork. A manager gets data about the teams they lead. Admins get aggregated data only.

  • Anonymity is preserved. Groups of fewer than 3 respondents are never shown in company-wide breakdowns.

  • Read-only. The assistant cannot send, edit or delete anything in Popwork.

  • Your assistant receives the answers it looks up. They are processed by the AI provider you chose, under its terms and your company's AI policy. Check-in answers can be personal: use the assistant the way you use Popwork, to support your team.

  • Limits. The assistant reads the most recent check-ins (up to 10 per request). Ask a follow-up question to go further back.

  • You stay in control. You can remove the Popwork connector at any time from your assistant's settings.

Frequently asked questions

Which assistants does it work with? Popwork MCP is built on the open MCP standard. The setup described here is designed for Claude. Tell us in the chat if you want to use another assistant.

The Add to Claude button does not open the right page. Open claude.ai in your browser and start again from there.

I do not see Connected assistants in Integrations. The beta is activated account by account. Ask us in the chat and we will enable it.

Can the assistant change my data? No. During the beta, Popwork MCP only reads.
